The
one thing I hate about the Internet, and I mean the only thing that I
truly hate, is that games are spoiled before they are even released.
I wanted to play The Last of Us just because of the name. The box art
and the title said it all as to what it would be, I was looking forward
to finding out the world without knowing anything about the game aside
from the setting.
Now I know that this isn't a huge deal, but
to me the first 15 minutes is what makes or breaks the game for me. If I
can get immersed within the first hour, I will love the game. It's
happened with praised games like Bioshock and Gears of War, to
not-so-praised games like Sudeki.
Sudeki averages a score of 7/10, nothing spectacular neither terrible.
Just so happens to be my favorite game ever. No joke, as of July 5th
2013, Sudeki tops my favorite list. I knew nothing about the game, got
immersed into the world and I almost feel like playing it again just by
speaking of it.
I'm going on this tangent because it really
gets on my nerves, and kinda depresses me because YouTube channels,
forums, etc. that aren't even news outlets, video game or otherwise,
spoil little details that completely ruin the experience for me before
the games are even released.
Before Mass Effect 3 was even
announced, the 'huge spoiler' was released. I knew that spoiler for a
couple years before I eventually played Mass Effect 3. Knowing dampened
the experience for me, because it was already known.
It's
almost like the Game of Thrones episode "Red Wedding;" I knew it was
going to happen, from previous spoilers. However, the experience was
still there because I didn't know when it was going to happen.
I
have a huge stick up my ass for things like this, I get that it's a bit
obnoxious for me to go all "woe is me" for such a trivial thing. But
to me, this completely kills the experience, and I'm just pissed off
that I can't even go to Youtube without having a piece of a game, that I
have yet to play, spoiled.
But hey, I'm just a fat, white, 18-25, (North) American, cynical, skeptical, Atheist. I'm hated by pretty much everyone.
